'BRRREWS' BOX FEB. 2024

BRRREWS BOX

As we all shiver over our morning cups of coffee, we are featuring three outstanding roasters from some of the coldest towns in the country which include Yellow Bike Coffee, Kestrel Coffee Roasters, and Velodrome Coffee Co.

From Marquette, MI, the third snowiest town in the lower 48, Velodrome Coffee Co. has their ‘One Speed’ roast with notes of caramel, baked apple, and melon.

From Burlington, VT, known for its cold winters, Kestrel Coffee Roasters supplies us with their ‘Finca Santa Tomas Perdido’ coffee with flavors of cherry, cinnamon, and milk chocolate.

From Duluth, MN, or as some call it “The Air-Conditioned City,” Yellow Bike Coffee provides us with their ‘Fired Up’ roast with sweet, savory, tart fruit, and cocoa notes.

Make sure you stay warm out there with our ‘Brrrews’ box.

  • Founded in 2017 by Shannon Cornelius, Yellow Bike Coffee yearns to help its customers find balance and success through their well-crafted coffee experiences.

Shannon named her business after the common childhood experience of learning to ride a bike. Although you may end up with all kinds of scrapes and bruises, Yellow Bike Coffee wants to help encourage you to get right back on until you have found your success.

Yellow Bike Coffee also gives back to its community with their ‘Hero Roasts’ program in which they donate 8% of the proceeds to a specific local foundation in Duluth, MN.

  • Inspired by the fire-y enthusiasm for systematic and long term positive changes, sales of this roast directly benefits the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. This coffee comes from the Tilu Mountains and has gone through a wet-hulled process.

  • TASTING NOTES:
sweet, savory, tart fruit, rich cocoa

    ORIGIN
    Tanzania

  • Opening in July of 2018, Kestrel Coffee Roasters is owned by Charlotte and Johnny Steverson. Following their dreams of one day opening a coffee shop together, this roaster currently has three locations in Burlington, VT.

Kestrel Coffee Roasters uses a Loring S15 to roast their beans which relies on convection rather than the more traditional conduction method. Charlotte and Johnny also make sure that each coffee is properly roasted to bring out the best in the beans.

Kestrel Coffee Roasters focuses on ethically sourcing their single origin beans from small farms. Because of this, their selection of single origin coffees change every few months depending on seasonality.

  • This roast comes from the Torrebiarte family’s farm in Atitlan, Guatemala. Located next to the Santa Teresa river, the Torrebiartes are able to produce their own hydroelectric power to run their operations.

  • TASTING NOTES: cherry, cinnamon, milk chocolate

    ORIGIN: Guatemala

  • Founded by Brice and Teagan Strumer in December of 2016, Velodrome Coffee Co.’s motto since day one is: fast, simple, fresh. If a new product doesn’t meet even one of these requirements, it’s discarded and replaced with something more fitting.

Brice and Teagan are passionate about developing personal and loving relationships with all of the farmers who supply them with their coffee.

This roaster gets its name from a specific type of bike track that has steep banked turns that allows the racer to ride perpendicular to the track at amazing speeds.

  • This coffee comes from the Singri Estate at 1550 MASL. Being one of the largest estates in Papua New Guinea, this property houses the year-round and seasonal staff along with a school and healthcare facilities.

  • TASTING NOTES: caramel, baked apple, melon
