To celebrate the new year, we are featuring three cozy holiday blends from our friends at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Cala Coffee, and Blanchard’s Coffee Roasting Co.

From San Diego, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters presents its ‘Naughty Blend’ with notes of dark chocolate, cola, and of course lumps of coal.

From Birmingham, AL, we will enjoy Cala Coffee’s ‘Holiday Blend’ with fruit pie, milk chocolate, and caramel notes.

From Richmond, Blanchard’s Coffee Roasting Co. provides us with its ‘Holiday Blend’ which tastes like cocoa, nutmeg, and plum.

  • Founded by Josh and Mel Cosio in 2021, Cala Coffee started in a portable coffee cart and now has expanded into a brick and mortar coffee shop in Birmingham, AL. To create the name “Cala Coffee,” they combined both of their home state’s names, California and Alabama.

    For their first two years, Cala Coffee would deliver their on-the-go coffee experience at a variety of weddings, corporate celebrations, and local farmers markets.

    In January of 2023, Josh and Mel were able to open up their first coffee shop in which they blend exceptional coffee, serve breakfast tacos and pastries from partnered restaurants, and create a welcoming atmosphere for their loyal customers.

    Aiming to “help others create good days,” Cala Coffee is passionate about roasting delicious coffee and creating the best cafe experience they can.

  • Starting in his father’s garage, David Blanchard roasted his first batch of coffee in 2005 with the same goal he still has today: to roast great coffee to share with his family and friends.

    The only difference being that he now includes coffee producers and customers in his expanding coffee community.

    Blanchard’s Coffee Roasting Co. strives to honor each coffee’s story with a commitment to sustainability in the global coffee community through responsible sourcing, stewardship, and thoughtful roasting.

  • Each year Blanchard’s sets aside certain coffees to create a blend that is both intriguing and familiar, intense and smooth, comforting and exciting, and always begging you to have another cup.

    This holiday blend consists of a honey process coffee from Finca La Concepcion in Honduras, and a both a washed and natural process coffee from Catelan de las Mercedes in Guatemala.
