For our June box, we are featuring three Peruvian coffees from our friends at Conscious Coffees, Woodcat Coffee Roasters, and Portola Coffee.

From Boulder, CO, Conscious Coffees’ ‘Jaen’ roast has caramel, apricot, and bittersweet chocolate tasting notes.

From Los Angeles, CA, Woodcat Coffee Roasters is featuring their ‘Cajamarca’ which tastes like honeycrisp apple, caramel, and lime.

From Costa Mesa, CA, Portola Coffee presents us with their ‘El Palto’ coffee with toffee, prune, and almond notes.

  • Although Conscious Coffees has been a family owned business since 1996, it was only until 2017 when Craig Lamberty purchased Conscious Coffees that it became the roasting company we know today. Based in Boulder, CO, this coffee roaster is more than determined to deliver fantastic and complex coffees to their customers, while also ethically supporting the farmers who supply them the beans.

    All roasts from Conscious Coffees are 100% organic and all farmers are paid directly through Cooperative Coffees. If that wasn’t enough to convince you that Conscious Coffees is the real deal, they are also a Certified B-Corporation, which means they treat their customers, suppliers, employees, and the general environment with the utmost respect.

  • From the Sol Y Cafe cooperative, this medium roast comes from a AAA quality lot with complex sweet notes.

  • Bursting with personality, Woodcat Coffee Roasters is owned and operated by Saadat and Janine Awan in the Echo Park area of Las Angeles. With an intense dedication to serving their communities, Saadat and Janine opened a second shop in Silver Lake called Dinosaur Coffee in 2020.

    Woodcat Coffee Roasters, although many would misinterpret this, is not named after a wooden cat. Instead, the term ‘Woodcat’ is an old nickname for a rabbit; that’s why their designs often include one.

  • This incredibly balanced coffee has crisp acidity reminiscent of honeycrisp apples while also dipping into caramel sweetness and hints of lime in the finish.

  • Founded in 2009 by Jeff and Christa Duggan, Portola Coffee is locally renowned for their uncompromising quality. Featuring all organic coffees, this coffee roaster has established personal relationships with coffee farmers from across the world.

  • Named after the farm it comes from, this coffee is grown by Teodulo Cordova Cruz who has over 20 years of coffee sustainable producing experience.
